Towpath Bike Tour with the Cleveland Metroparks

Join AIA Cleveland for a bike tour of the Cleveland section of the Ohio and Erie Canalway Towpath Trail. 

Historical Interpreter Doug Kusak will guide attendees on an out-and-back trip from the Steel Heritage Center to Canal Basin Park. Points of interest will be pointed out along the way.

3275 Steelyard Dr, Cleveland, OH 44109

Attendees should be aware that there are a few substantial hills along this route, and that our tour guide has planned rest breaks at the peak of these hills.

Terrain: paved, city streets, several hills.

Total loop is approximately 8 miles.

Attendees must bring their own bike and helmet. The wearing of helmets for the duration of the tour is required for participation.

It is also recommended that attendees bring an adequate amount of water to stay hydrated.

Start at Steel Heritage Center

Stop 1 (@2 miles): Roundhouse Interpretive area

Stop 2 (@4 miles): Canal Basin Park (group turns around and heads back after this stop)

Stop 3 (@5.25 miles): Plaza by former Sokolowski's (follows steepest climb of the trip, almost 60' up the Cuyahoga River Valley wall)

Stop 4 (@6.5 miles): Mounds

End at Steel Heritage Center (8 miles)
