Hard Hat Tour: Case Western University South Residential Village Residence Halls

  • 2275 Murray Hill Road Cleveland, OH, 44106 United States (map)

The population of Case Western Reserve University is growing and the need for new housing for students has become more urgent. To accommodate the growing student population, CWRU is building two new residence halls in the South Residential Village (SRV) that together will house 600 additional students.

The $110 Million total project cost residence halls will be at the intersection of Murray Hill Road and Adelbert Road. The two new buildings, along with a green space in between, are being constructed in what was once a parking area. Construction began in 2022 and will wrap up by 2024, ready for move-in by the fall of the 2024 semester.

Participants will gain an understanding of these residential halls being constructed, their planning and integration to the existing student halls and green spaces. The participants will also learn the how the certification under Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) addressed the health and indoor environmental quality. This is important as the university experience during the COVID-19 pandemic has allowed the architects to consider the role of fresh air more in designing buildings, and the installation of bipolar ionization units that kill bacteria.

Participants will be required to wear the following PPE: Vests, Hard Hats, Glasses, Gloves, Pants, Flat, Hard-soled Shoes (no heels or tennis shoes)
