This will be a Hard Hat Tour of John Carroll University's new Athletic Wellness and Event Center.
The facility will include a new 200-meter track in the 63,000-sf field house, connection to the DeCarlo Varsity Center, and the University's existing recreation complex, along with 26,000 sf of interior renovations to the existing Student Center.
The new facility will provide the University a new 200-meter track that enables our university to be on par with their peer schools in the Ohio Athletic Conference as well as the ability to host large-scale events and host John Carroll's graduation ceremony if inclement weather affects commencement weekend. Additionally, the new space provides other possibilities including college fairs, youth sports tournaments, and community events. With built-in space for spectators, the facility will be perfect for welcoming visitors and events to campus.
As with most major construction projects over $60,000,000, there are significant new and innovative design and construction techniques and strategies implemented by the design and construction teams. There are challenges and obstacles that must be met. This particular new addition and renovation project will serve to enlighten the attendees regarding phased design and construction approaches while maintaining the Health, Safety and Welfare of students, faculty and staff on an active college campus. We will also explore the complexities of designing and constructing a large scale institutional/recreational building within a tight knit residential community.
