This presentation explores electrification’s impact on an energy carbon footprint and its role in long-term sustainability and carbon neutrality goals. Gain a greater understanding of MEP system designs necessary to effectively implement electrification for both new and existing buildings.

The goal is to introduce design professionals to the subject so they have a working knowledge of electrification that can be applied to projects in a meaningful way.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Compare carbon emissions of onsite fuel and electric utilities in multiple regions nationally.

2. Discuss how utilizing resistant heat as a replacement for onsite fossil fuels is not the intent of “electrification.”

3. Discuss the necessary changes to HVAC and plumbing systems to effectively implement electrification strategies.

4. Discuss how electrification effects the electrical infrastructure and emergency power systems
