ARE Knowledge Session on Professional Practice

Calling all AIA Associate Members and ARE test takers!  Join AIA Cleveland for an ARE Knowledge Session on Professional Practice.  The virtual session will focus on the fundamentals of professional practice in preparation for questions that may appear on the ARE.  The ARE Knowledge Sessions will provide access to experienced advisors in Structural Systems, MEP Systems and Professional Practice in preparation for ARE testing.   

Our experienced advisor for this session is Eric O. Pempus, FAIA, Esq., NCARB.  Eric has been a risk manager for more than 17 years with experience in architecture, law and professional liability insurance, and a unique and well-rounded background in the construction industry. Prior to risk management, he has 25 years of experience in the practice of architecture, and as an adjunct professor teaching professional practice courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels for the last 35 years.

As a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and AIA National Ethics Council 2021 Chair, he has demonstrated his impact on architectural profession. He has presented numerous loss prevention and continuing educational programs to design professionals and architectural students in various venues across the United States and Canada.

AIA Ohio has a program titled AIA Ohio Cares (Catalyst for Architectural Registration Exam Scholarship), that is geared toward helping ARE Candidates with grants to complete their ARE testing. This program is open to all Ohio residents who are eligible to take the ARE and the funds may be used for either the cost of testing or for other associated costs, including study material.  The fund permits members and non-members alike to apply for funding.  AIA Associate members may qualify for a grant of up to $200, while non-members are limited to $100 grants.  Grants are limited to one per year and funds available for this program are limited so awards will be made on a first come, first serve basis.  To apply for the grant click below to complete an application form.
