Women in Architecture
Event Recap: Women Shaping the Built Environment
AIA Cleveland’s Women in Architecture (WIA+) Committee proudly hosted its 12th Annual Celebration of Women in Architecture on Tuesday, March 31, 2026 — an inspiring evening dedicated to honoring Women’s History Month and recognizing the many ways women are shaping Cleveland’s built environment. With 75 attendees filling the Millwrights and Carpenters Union Hall, the event brought together architects, interior designers, engineers, contractors, and allied professionals for a night of connection, reflection, and shared purpose.
This year’s theme, “Women Shaping the Built Environment in Cleveland,” highlighted the breadth of talent and leadership across our region. The Millwrights and Carpenters Union graciously hosted the event at their Union Hall on E. 22nd Street, providing a welcoming space for conversation and celebration.
Megan Pros, AIA, AIA Cleveland President, welcomed more than 75 attendees before a dynamic panel discussion featuring:
Jennifer Coleman, RA, Program Director, The George Gund Foundation
Meghan Bracken, Cleveland Construction
Sara Peters, P.E., Principal, THP Limited
Natalie Matteucci, Director of Interiors, DS Architecture
The conversation explored career pathways, interdisciplinary collaboration, leadership experiences, and the evolving role of women in shaping the future of Cleveland’s built environment. Panelists shared candid insights, practical advice, and reflections on the importance of visibility, mentorship, and advocacy within the profession.
Guests also enjoyed a display of work created by women across the industry — a powerful visual reminder of the creativity, technical excellence, and impact women bring to the design and construction landscape.
AIA Cleveland extends sincere appreciation to our event sponsors — Central Midwest Regional Council of Carpenters, Cleveland Hub; Gunton Pella; and Sierra Pacific Windows — whose support made this celebration possible.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful evening. Together, we continue to uplift the voices, achievements, and leadership of women shaping the places where our communities live, work, and thrive.
